Running any tests that use testing/mgo.go hurts a machine with spinning rust.
% pstree | grep mongo
| | | | \--- 62328 dfc mongod --dbpath /var/folders/rw/r0qpb_094sb80s98hgd4gzkw0000gn/T/test-mgo092984651 --bind_ip localhost --port 52735 --nssize 1 --noprealloc --smallfiles --nojournal
William, this might be why your tests have started to take 5 minutes.
Aram suggested that this shouldn't really happen, but it does appear that mgo is still writing a large amount of data at startup
odessa(/var/folders/rw/r0qpb_094sb80s98hgd4gzkw0000gn/T/test-mgo714950436) % du -sh *
256M _tmp
1.0M juju.ns
4.0K mongod.lock
I haven't run into this before as I run /tmp on a tmpfs, but on this machine it isn't an option.
