Yeah, that's the primary motivation. Probably less important now than it
was a year ago, when the logspam was really truly horrifying.

If there's no immediate detailed-filtering use case for the GUI, I'll be
happy telling users to `| grep` on the CLI; and a little happier still from
not imposing subtle constraints on future evolution. If anyone has a
current use case that demands server-side filtering more granular than
per-entity, speak now or... well, at least, expect to wait a good while
before you're satisfied.
