If it didn't take much screen real estate that might be nice to have.

To me, the big takeaways are that we should have an explicit story about
sharing charms, and the URL might not solve that story as well as usual.

A minimal solution might be something like what I mentioned from Ben.
What you described could be part of a bigger solution.  As long as we
have *a* reasonable solution for 13.04 I think we are good.
