Hi Guillaume,
the hadoop charm lp:charms/hadoop is a great example of best-practice on
this. The concept there is that it's _one_ charm that behaves
differently depending on if it's master or slave. The readme in this
charm is awesome and shows how this 'role' can be specified at relation
time.
