Different controllers. I'll fix this myself, but shouldn't these kinds of things
be handled by the installer/HW autodetector?

Errrm. Those are not my conf files, as I am not the original bug submitter, but
rather a "me too" guy. My files look pretty much the same, though.

My root disk is on the SATA drive, which uses the sata_sil driver. Initrd loads
that and then hotplug loads the NForce driver. By then it is too late, as some
other mechanism has loaded the ide_* drivers that prevent using DMA.
