Kernel Config for generic "linux-2.6.11-gentoo-r6" kernel

This is my .config from what is basically the most generic kernel that you can
install with a Gentoo 2005.0 system. It is a 2.6.11 derivative, just a
slightly newer revision (r6) than the livecd (r3) but both detect and correctly
configure SATA when the BIOS is set to AHCI mode.

Incidentally, there is an increasing number of recent reports of what is most
likely this same bug in the Hoary Hardware forum:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25217
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=28037
It also seems that some people are less lucky than me in that some BIOSes
apparently do not provide any option that allows working around this issue. It
is also possible (which would explain why older Knoppix CDs work) that older
2.6 kernels (2.6.7 / 2.6.8) work better with SATA and certain BIOS settings
than 2.6.10 does. 2.6.11 may be the ticket, especially if AHCI is needed. Also,
a common factor among reports appears to be the Intel ICH6R/ICH6RW chipset,
which is mostly found in fairly new hardware.
