I got it from via the ubuntu newbie setup script from

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=22646, it adds a few apt sources.

The one I got it from is http://mirror.mcs.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu

but this happens with kernel version 2.6.11 from universe as well.
I just tried the 2.6.12 in the hopes it would be fixed.

If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

I noticed a new bug, but I think it is related, because passing NOAPIC solves it
too.
Some times (not all times) in a non determinist way, the boot will hang just
after detecting my touchpad,
and everytime a press a key on the keyboard, it will go a step further, until it
gets do hotplug, where
it completely hangs and nothing else is done. I need to use alt+sysrq keys to
umount/reboot.

but I can't say this is related.
