We have fixed it for the current version of Ubuntu, see
http://projects.openoffice.nl/downloads/ubuntu-kernel-2.6.10-fix/
The fix itself is rather trivial (the overhead of hunting it down, patching, bug
reporting etc. was not). (While we're at it: closing the bug "because it's fixed
in $someversion" while the current kernel is affected with a memory leak feels a
bit strange. Don't the Ubuntu developers care about kernel memory degradation?)
