Summary: kernel thinks cd drive is a floppy drive
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: linux
        AssignedTo: ben.collins at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: mika.fischer at gmx.de
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

Hi.

This is a current breezy install using kernel 2.6.12-7.11 (686 flavor).

dmesg says:
[4294674.514000] hdc: , ATAPI cdrom or floppy?, assuming FLOPPY drive
and then:
[4294719.188000] ide-floppy: hdc: not supported by this version of ide-floppy
(full dmesg attached)

Now /dev/hdc is my cdrom drive so it's not surprising that the ide-floppy driver
doesn't like it...
This results in my cd drive becoming unusable (/dev/hdc does not exist).

It used to work in breezy. I don't know exactly when it stopped working because
I don't use the drive that often.

Let me know if I can do something to help debug this.

Mika.
