I have a similar problem with an Alp pad on fujitsu-seimens 610 laptop

The pad works fine gestures etc

But the middle button only behaves like an extra right mouse button i.e down =
right mouse up = no response

It's not a problem with my xorg.conf as if I revert to 2.6.11 (first kernel with
synaptics built in) then all behaves as it should.

I've seen some comments about getsures enable/disable being reversed think I saw
it in 2.6.13 changelog but didn't think it applied to my problem as my getures
etc work fine.
