I don't have currently time for more involving debugging (and I don't want to
break the current installation for the holidays), so I tested the laptop with
Dapper Flight 2 live-cd. The experience was not pleasing :P. X was pretty much
completely borked even though it seemed to have detected the correct
driver/resolution according to xorg.conf. And dmesg reported oopses happening
left and right.
Anyway, back to this bug. The hotkey for suspending to RAM works even when in
the console and the laptop goes to sleep. It also wakes up OK, and much faster
than previously, though in this case there is only the text-mode to deal with as
X does not work. So, it seems that whatever the bug was it is fixed now... I'll
have more time for testing i a couple of weeks and I'll upgrade to Dapper
properly, maybe X will work correctly with the old configs (and if not, I'll
file a bug-report).
