Summary: acx_pci module fails because radio firmware is not there
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: linux
AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: matthew.east at breathe.com
QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
I did a brand new default hoary install, then logged in and updated as requested
by update-manager. Then I rebooted and my wifi card does not work. What happens
is that the card appears under "ifconfig -a", but the light on the card does not
come on, and after configuring and activating it in network-admin I have no
connection. I am fairly sure that the relevant firmware for my card is not there
at all, and thus this bug is not related to #5739.
Here is the relevant information (I hope, if not, please ask for more!!)
0000:02:00.0 Network controller: Texas Instruments ACX 111 54Mbps Wireless Interface
To be precise: Dlink DWL G650+
matt at kallisto:~$ dpkg -l |grep linux-image
ii linux-image-2. 2.6.10-34.3 Linux kernel image for version 2.6.10 on 386
ii linux-image-38 2.6.10-7 Linux kernel image on 386.
Firmware: '/lib/hotplug/firmware/RADIO16.BIN-2.6.10-5-386' not found. Trying
alternative firmware.
ERROR 2 trying to open firmware image file '/lib/hotplug/firmware/RADIO16.BIN':
file not found - make sure this EXACT filename is in eXaCtLy this directory!
WARNING: no suitable radio module (/lib/hotplug/firmware/RADIO16.BIN) found to
load. No problem in case of a combined firmware, FATAL when using a separated
firmware (base firmware / radio image).
hope this helps, Matt
