Summary: kernel cannot open root device after upgrade
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: linux
        AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: michael at endbracket.net
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

After upgrading to the latest Linux 2.6 kernel image for k7, my system will not
boot.

Cannot open root device "sdb1" or unknown-block(0,0)
...
Kernel panic

I guess the initrd no longer contains SATA disk controller support (I have a
Silicon Image 3112 on an nForce 2 mainboard), but it could be something else.
