My dmesg shows "DV failed to configure device" (see below) which may be related
to ahc_dv_0 taking 100% on startup. I haven't tried another distribution with
this disk (but the original poster did).
<OFFTOPIC> It looks like I fixed an unrelated problem with system lockup by
upgrading the disk firmware to the latest version. </OFFTOPIC>
