So NFS is not a good test. For me, it's easy to evaluate responsiveness on a
graphic desktop but not in console mode. Could you give me a command (or
combination of commands, or a script) I could launch to produce comparable results.

As I said in my first message, I'm using the "hoary-preview-live-powerpc". It's
the one I donwloaded on the 23 of March. On the ftp servers, the date of the
latest corresponding iso file is the 10th of March. So, I suppose I use the
latest version. Am I wrong ? May be, I should choose a specific kernel when the
system prompts, at boot. Up to now, I always chose the default (<return>).

How do I boot in single user ? Tell me and I'll do it.
