I'm sorry, but it isn't.

The direction of the arrow indicates the direction of the link:

  /initrd.img -> boot/initrd.img-2.6.12-9-686 is a link from /initrd.img to
boot/initrd.img-2.6.12-9-686

Also, according to 'man ln':

  SYNOPSIS
    ln [OPTION]... TARGET [LINK_NAME]
  DESCRIPTION
    Create a link to the specified TARGET [...]

so lets see what that does:

  $ ln -s TARGET LINK_NAME
  $ ls -l LINK_NAME
  lrwxrwxrwx  1 chris chris 6 Nov  8 10:35 LINK_NAME -> TARGET

So that is what a link *to* TARGET looks like.
