           Summary: [breezy] TTY screens corrupt
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: kernel-package
        AssignedTo: ben.collins at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: deerfieldtech at gmail.com
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place. I've been following breezy
since C3, and this problem has come and gone and is now back with kernel
2.6.12-9-686 #1 Sat Oct 1 00:14:33 UTC 2005 i686. It seems to be related to
kernel updates.

When switching to a TTY using Alt-F6 for example, and then launching mc, the mc
interface is corrupted, displaying random numbers and characters everywhere, and
parts of the interface are blacked out and displayed incorrectly. Menus are
wrecked too. On the other hand, plain text is displayed fine. I use, and have
experimented with removing and changing, the vga=791 kernel parameter. I've
removed this line, removed "quiet' and "splash", and nothing seems to have an
effect.

I suppose there is a chance that this is an mc problem, except that it worked
fine with the kernel release just prior to the one mentioned above.
