Summary: Kernel Hangs after probing IDE for a long time.
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: kernel-package
        AssignedTo: ben.collins at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: pardasaniman at yahoo.com
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I lucked out on the Breezy forums, but this is definitely a bug some laptop
users will face.

With kernel versions bigger than 2.6.8 my laptop (and others) freeze as
described in the forum posting at
http://us.f604.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login?.rand=3ed2ntvert6ah

With this 2.6.12 in breezy, the workaround of adding idex=noprobe to the kernel
boot parameters no longer work. I've tried booting with nodma, noacpi, noapic,
several combinations of ide#=noprobe, and nothing seems to work.

Perhaps it is a problem with the generic ide driver?
