Summary: ubuntu breezy 2.6.12-9-386 kernel update breaks
                    ndiswrapper
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: kernel-package
        AssignedTo: ben.collins at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: davidthewatson at gmail.com
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I have ubuntu breezy beta installed and ndiswrapper properly configured for my
emachines m5310 laptop running 2.6.12-8-386 kernel, which has broadcom 4306
802.11g wireless on the motherboard. I received the update notification for the
new kernel, along with some other packages, and updated. However, when I boot
into the new kernel, the network connection won't init properly, ie. wlan0 isn't
able to talk to the WAP, it never gets a DHCP address, even though the module
appears to init properly according to iwconfig and ndiswrapper -l. Here's the
line from lspci:

0000:00:0c.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless
LAN Controller (rev 02)

I am able to reboot and select the 12-8 kernel and ndiswrapper continues working
properly with the 12-8 kernel with all of the other new packages from breezy as
of 10-9-2005.

I am using the following drivers with the broadcom card and ndiswrapper:

watson at ubuntu:~$ ls -lr /cdrom/PCI/
total 197
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 173056 2003-03-19 23:21 bcmwl5.sys
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 20135 2003-05-14 19:10 bcmwl5.inf
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 7664 2003-05-16 16:21 bcm43xx.cat

and I have version 1.1-4ubuntu2 of ndiswrapper-utils installed.
