I have the same behavior using last Breezy Release Candidate.
The laptop is a Sony VAIO PCG-FX201.
The freeze occurs when printing "Loading ACPI modules".
Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Suppr reboots the machine.
Booting with "acpi=off" solved the problem...
