I can reliably reproduce this bug with kernel 2.6.12-9-386 in breezy. This bug
manifests itself when the network card is under high load. If you wait long
enough (up to several hours) network connectivity will come back (at least until
to do some high speed transfers). The pci=routeirq workaround has no effect. I
have attached dmesg output (both before and after trying the workaround),
/proc/interrupts output (both before and after trying the workaround) and lspci
output.
This is very frustrating, as the affected machine in my network is the Internet
gateway and apt-cacher server, and it drops out whenever a system goes apt-get
update. I think it is a kernel error as when the machine ran Debian woody it
would not freeze.
