I tried to install ubuntu-5.10-install-amd64.iso on an AMD 64 3200+ box that I just build with new parts
including a Plextor 740A CD/DVD burner drive which uses the Philips Nexperia PNX7860E chipset, but the
installation fails when trying to load the file e2fsprogs-udeb.
It is NOT the case that the drive is dirty: (a) It is brand new out of a sealed box, and (b) Fedora Core 4
doesn't have even one single, solitary problem with that drive, and Winpooch 2000 Pro doesn't have a problem
with that drive either.
It's definitely a BUG in ubuntu or debian.
