Same problem here with my new configuration using plextor 740A.
Distributions enabling DMA on installation works perfect.
So we just need a kernel boot parameter enabling dma for a device.
PS: I think that the fact that ubuntu disable DMA by default is the wrong way.
The futur IS DMA, so we have to enable it. We must make face to the DMA problem.
