Hi !
I have a similar problem on a Thinkpad T41p (kernel 2.6.12-9-686):
When I do some heavy work (e.g. compiling something big), after ca.
10-15 minutes the cpu speed goes down (the cpu gets very hot (89°C), so I
suspect that the thermal throttling kicks in). But when it cools down,
the speed does not rise again, so I have to /etc/init.d/powernowd restart.
(I guess this is rather an upstream issue).
powernowd version is 0.96. There are no kernel messages regarding this,
powernowd does not log anything either. It just freezes.
