On a HP 8220 with the same model of wireless card I had a similar problem, I
couldn't see the access point.
In other locations however the card wroked fine so it may have been a particular
AP/setup it does not like.
Unfortunately I cannot go back and test again on the initial location as it's in
another town, but I'll ask about the AP hardware type it may be it's the same
kind of incompatibility that we bumped into.
