Now this gets complicated and I may need help.

The applet which is failing was added to my top panel under /Add to Panel/System & Hardware/Battery Charge Monitor. 

I have just loaded gnome-power-manager but I cannot find out how to add the icon to my panel. Under /System/Preferences/Power Preferences/Advanced I have Display Main Icon ticked but cannot see it. Can someone help me out here?
