Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I had been using a fairly up to date (every day or two) installed from a
flight-6 kubuntu install cd. Today I did my updates, and now the
machine won't boot. Somehow, the kernel has switched the names of the
harddrives from hda->hdb and vice versa, meaning that the grub kernel
option is wrong. If I fix this in grub, the system will sort of boot
until it tries to mount all of the filesystems at which point it fails
because /etc/fstab lists everything as /dev/hdaX . and now the kernel
has named those: /dev/hdbX ...

I don't remember which version of the kernel that I was using before
this, I just know that it stopped working after upgrading about an hour
ago.
