scrapthesurface at ubuntu:~$ cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.11rc4 (Wed Mar 22 10:27:24 2006 UTC).

Testing result:

the bug is still there, but now rosegarden goes a little bit on before
crashing the whole system.
