[Bug 75434] ACPI sound problem

Public bug reported:

The system is Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft and it is installed on a Toshiba
Satellite P100 MA5 laptop.

When booted normally the sound does not work through the on board
speakers or  headphone jack.

When booted with the kernel parameter acpi=off the sound works but the
network does not. Of course with acpi=off, all ACPI functions vital for
a laptop are lost.
