reiserfs v3. I can try ext3. Considering though that everything works
ok afterwards with a new kernel, I don't think that's it. Feels like
compiler optimizations in gcc >= 3.4.
Once I booted the recompiled vanilla kernel, X works fine using vesa?
but since this is a samba server, I have gdm turned off.
I don't know what it is about these systems (I have two) but there
always seems to be something funky with these "engineered" systems. I
can run Dapper on my AMD 3500's with MSI motherboards just fine and
never think about them having a fit. Hoary RC1 *would not* play nice on
the Supermicros. Waited 2 days for official 5.04 to come out and
everything was fixed. I think it was something with the Serverworks
chipset if I had to guess. And now this rot. Sigh.
