Public bug reported:

I upgraded my craptop to Dapper, and discovered that it would panic
during boot. I eventually tracked this down to the parport_pc module,
and with it blacklisted, the system boots and runs fine.

The call trace is long, but the bottom of it which I can see on the
screen indicates a bad EIP value inside a select(), down below the
filesystem layer somewhere. Perhaps memory corruption of some sort? I
can get the trace if you think it'd be useful, though it doesn't include
any parport_pc or related code.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
