Public bug reported:

Running a Dell Dimension XPS R450 with 256 mb of RAM, a PII processor
and a large 5,200 RPM hard drive. When I enter the cd and select run
Ubuntu or install, I get:

Uncompressing... booting
[68.928851] PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource (lots of numbers, mostly zeroes)
[68.101268] invalid compressed format (err=1)
[68.105505] Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)

Occasionally I get past this point and select the install icon from the
desktop once it loads. It sometimes freezes and sometimes continues the
process of making selections for the install. If the latter, it freezes
at some point during the install. The furthest I've gotten in 66%.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Needs Info
