I have experienced this too just on a normal desktop machine. It has one
HDD connected via IDE1, then 4 160Gb disks on a PCI IDE Adaptor. In
breezy the disk was seen as IDE1, but in dapper it's IDE6. The partition
(hda2)  Dapper thinks should be hde2. Subsequently, I can't boot.

very annoying.
