I am getting the same hang on my Dell Inspiron 600m. I am guessing it
has to do with their kernel config or custom patches, because this was
working for me just fine in my gentoo install with kernel 2.6.14. (I
previously had the same problem with gentoo's 2.6.12 kernel, but 2.6.14
fixed the issue for me.)

I can bring my laptop to a developer in the San Francisco bay area if
that would help debug this issue.
