Public bug reported:

I'm using Dapper 6.06 with latest updates. My Notebook is an Asus W3
with 2 GHZ Pentium Mobile. The Chipset is a Mobile Intel 915PM Express.

When booting up it lasts about 1 min on "mounting root file system".
After that there is only a "waiting for root file system" and nothing
happens. Kernel message is "ATTENTION!: cant find /dev/sda1". During the
sequence until the error there are some outputs like "ACPI-0517:
****Error Method parse/execudion failed".

I tried booting up with the acpi=off option in grub and the notebook
booted fine. But now there is no cpu frequency scaling support, sound
shortcuts dont work and hitting the power-button will power off the
notebook immediately without shutting down.

Kernel 2.6.15-19 was the last that worked fine. I've had this error
Since Kernel 2.6.15-20.

I hope this was enough information to fix this problem.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed
