Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-23-686

Hardware:

Asus NCCH-DL BIOS 1005
CPUs: 2x Intel Xeon P4 2.8 GHz
Hyperthreading enabled (log. 4 CPUs)
2x 512 MB DDR400 SDRAM ECC
Intel 82875P (MCH)
Intel 6300ESB (ICH, "ICH-S")
Intel 82547EI Gigabit Ethernet (CSA)
Matrox G450 DH 32MB AGP (G45FMDHA32DB)
3Com 3c905C-TX [Tornado] 100 MBit Ethernet PCI
PS/2 mouse and keyboard

Kernel:

Dapper Drake:
linux-image-2.6.15-20-386: works (only 1 CPU, no HT)
linux-image-2.6.15-20-686: does not work, GDM: frozen keyboard and mouse, remote login still possible
linux-image-2.6.15-23-686: does not work, GDM: frozen keyboard and mouse, remote login still possible

I have success with a vanilla 2.6.16.2 kernel, no options changed, see
this thread for details:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=152759

My problem is not USB related, because I use PS/2 mouse and keyboard.

I would recommend to use the newest 2.6.16 kernel for Dapper Drake
instead of backporting yet another patch (and looking after already
solved issues), but this is only by $0.02.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
