so, to add it all up:

1) the current breezy kernel fries ipods

2) whether they're connected trough a hub or not

3) because there's a problem with it's firmware and how EFI handles the
ipod's requests

4) and the patch that everyone is talking about is in the kernel already:

5) the patch doesn't do what it should do

possible solutions:
* recompiling the kernel without EFI support
* fix the kernel
