Public bug reported:

Supermicro 7044 server
X6DHT-G motherboard, dual 3Ghz Xeon64, HT on
latest BIOS (v2 1/26/06)

Installed 6.06 64bit onto Areca sata RAID and everything installed fine.
After completion, reboot into system. X fails to load (no error) and
text login appears. apt-get update segfaults, anything else pretty much
segfaults. An app may start to run but then a dependant lib will
segfault...

Rebooted into installer to chroot to installed partition. apt works,
other applications work. apt upgrade everything possible, rebooted.
Still segfaults. Back to chrooted environment. Apt'd gcc-3.3, gcc3-4,
gcc4 and kernel source 2.6.15-7. Compiled new kernel with gcc-4.0.3 and
gcc-3.4. Still broken. gcc3.3 results in a working kernel. X loads,
apt runs, everything runs.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
