Relating to the same underlying problem, but not using wine: current
valgrind SVN (not the released versions, yet) also requires 3 GB, not
the 2 GB currently used in ubuntu kernels.

If you run valgrind-SVN  on ubuntu now, you get the similar instant
'Killed'.
