I am having problems with speedstepng too.

Ubuntu version: 6.10
CPU: Genuine Intel(R) CPU           T2300  @ 1.66GHz
sudo modprobe speedstep-centrino gives the following:
FATAL: Error inserting speedstep_centrino (/lib/modules/2.6.17-10-generic/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/speedstep-centrino.ko): No such device

What I'm saying is that speedsteping is not working though as far as I
know the CPU supports it.
