I had to resort to installing kernel 2.6.18 to allow ndiswrapper to work. Doing this also fixed my laptop battery meter (Acer Ferrari 4005 laptop). -- ndiswrapper/broadcom fails in recent kernels https://launchpad.net/bugs/42466
