[Bug 55307] bcm43xx driver: poor network detection range

Public bug reported:

Using Kubuntu Dapper on a laptop with a Broadcom 4318 internal card and
wheter using  Knetworkmanager, Wireless assistant or othe wireless
network manager with the bcm43xx module, the network detection range is
pretty poor, for sure not as good as the one I get with ndiswrapper or
with other wireless devices that I have here at home.  Also, when a
network connection is established and I move from one place to another
in the house, the connection is broken.
