Public bug reported:
The following keyboard was plugged into a port on a IBM Thinkpad T43
docking station:
[4296392.063000] usb 2-2: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
[4296392.256000] input: Dell Dell USB Keyboard as /class/input/input3156
[4296392.256000] input: USB HID v1.10 Keyboard [Dell Dell USB Keyboard] on usb-0000:00:1d.1-2
This resulted in the following error as reported by dmesg:
[4296387.541000] drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: input irq status -71 received
[4296387.557000] drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: input irq status -71 received
[4296387.573000] drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: input irq status -71 received
[4296387.589000] drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: input irq status -71 received
...
The keyboard was unresponsive. The same keyboard worked by plugging
directly into the USB port of the laptop itself.
I am thinking the bug might be related to the following kernel patch:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/gregkh/usb/2.6/2.6.17-rc1
/hid-core.c-fix-input-irq-status-32-received-for-silvercrest-usb-
keyboard.patch
Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'linux-image-2.6'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.
** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Medium
Status: Unconfirmed
