[Bug 57624] 6.06.1 Live CD issues. Freezing on Loading Root.

Hi. I'm a brand new Linux user.

I was always curious to try Linux, but have always been intimidated by
it because of it's unfriendliness to windows and mac users like myself.
Then, Ubuntu has been the talk of the town lately because of it's ease
of use and cool features. I decided to give it a try. I tried it at work
and it booted fine. I loved the interface using gnome way much more than
KDE.

When I got home, the live CD wouldn't work. I would select the first
menu choice so that I could load the os and play with it at home, but
during the progress bar sequence...it would not got passed loading root.
It would just freeze there. I would leave it for up to 20 minutes and
nothing...nada. No error messages either. I read that this release has
some issues with pc configurations with more than 2 drives in a system.

I have an emachine T3092.
Athlon XP 3000+
1.5gb of Ram
nforce 2 motherboard
NEC DVD Burner & Liteon CD Drive on the motherboard IDE controller port 1
Western Digital 160 GB HD on the motherboard IDE controller port 2
I have a promise ULTRA 133 TX2 IDE Contoller with a 120gb Seagate HD on 1 port.
I have a AGP Albatron fx5700q 256mb card

When I disconnected the IDE cable and power cable from the Seagate HD.

The live cd booted perfectly.

I then figured that it could either be the pci controller or the fact
that I have a second HD.

So, I connected the Seagate back, but sharing a IDE controller channel
on the motherboard controller.

It was not booting up again.

Is there a fix for this or am I going to have to wait till your next big
release?

I am not Linux command line savy, so I wouldn't know what to do.

Can anyone help? I was so looking forward to using this OS, but I've
ended up in dissapointment.

This seems to be a major bug.

Oh! And yes, I checked the CD at work for errors and it was just fine.
