Confirmed on Kubuntu 6.10, I have a bcm43xx and I'm using ndiswrapper,
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics card running with fglrx.   I have an HP
v2565us AMD64 1.8GHz with 768 megs of RAM.  (I have an AMD64 processor
but I'm running 32 bit.) I have the same problem.  I haven't tried any
of the workarounds yet - I'll post when I've tried them all.  I'm using
the 2.6.17-10-generic i686 kernel.
