Having the same issue here. I have a dell d610 with fiesty, all updates.
When docked, sound works from laptop speakers or on board headphone
jack, unless there are speakers plugged into the docking station's
headphone jack, in which case there is no sound at all. The volume for
the on board head phone jack can not be controlled via the dedicated vol
up/down buttons on the laptop, however these buttons do control the
sound coming out of the on board laptop speakers.
