Public bug reported:
I have a Maxtor ATA133 PCI disk controller card which requires support
provided by pdc202xx_new.
The feisty kernel configuration doesn't include this module which means
that pata_pdc2027x gets used instead. The problem with this is that the
system's view of the drive is changed from IDE to SCSI and you lose the
facility to tune the disk operation with hdparm (e.g. 32-bit I/O and
interrupt unmask).
I have applied the linux-image .config to kernel-sources and built a
kernel image (using make-kpkg) with support for pdc202xx_new. I can
verify that my card is detected, and managed correctly, by the added
module.
** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Unconfirmed
