You are describing two different issues. I'm going to change this bug so
it describes the wrong command-not-found-message.
** Changed in: ndiswrapper (Ubuntu)
Status: Confirmed => Invalid
** Also affects: command-not-found (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Summary changed:
- Fiesty 7.04 ndiswrapper helpfile misinformation
+ command-not-found suggests ndiswrapper-common instead of ndiswrapper-utils-1.9
** Description changed:
- Someone should update the Feisty 7.04 Helpfile to reflect the changes
- regarding ndiswrapper. When troubleshooting your internet from the help
- menu, it says for wireless cards to run ndiswrapper, and that it's
- included on the CD. I was told on the forums that it is NOT included on
- the Feisty 7.04 desktop CD.
-
However, if you try to use ndiswrapper as a command, not knowing that it WAS NOT installed with Feist, it says:
The program 'ndiswrapper' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-common'
But when you type the above command, you get:
kate at Rinukusu:~$ sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-common
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package ndiswrapper-common
Just a minor issue that creates headaches for new Ubuntu users. (I.E.
myself.)
+
+ Regarding the documentation:
+ [Someone should update the Feisty 7.04 Helpfile to reflect the changes regarding ndiswrapper. When troubleshooting your internet from the help menu, it says for wireless cards to run ndiswrapper, and that it's included on the CD. I was told on the forums that it is NOT included on the Feisty 7.04 desktop CD.]
