This issue is still present in 2.6.27-2-generic. I've attached some test
output (removing ndiswrapper, loading ssb then reloading ndiswrapper)
which shows the device being claimed by the ssb module.

As an aside, it appears that the module `pcspkr' has been compiled into
this kernel. I tend to disable my system bell by blacklisting this
module, which I can't do if it hasn't been compiled as a module.
