Binary package hint: linux-image-generic

upon upgrading to the latest kernel (2.6.24-3|4) my macbook is unable to
boot with the error:

usb 1-2: device not accepting address 2, error -71.
usb 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 2.
